Privacy

No accounts, no cookies, no advertising, and nothing that identifies you. Page views are counted without cookies so I can tell whether any of this is useful. What follows is everything else worth knowing.

What we don't do

• No accounts, sign-ups or logins.
• No cookies, local storage or session storage of any kind.
• No advertising, no ad networks, no tracking pixels.
• No following you across other websites, and nothing sold or shared with anyone.
• No mailing list, and nothing to subscribe to.

The search box and filters on the browse page run entirely in your browser. What you type is never sent anywhere. The whole list is already on the page.

Visitor counts

The site runs Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and does not follow you to any other site. What it records is the page you looked at, the site that linked you here if any, and your rough country and device type. It does not record who you are, and it is not joined to anything else.

It is here for two dull reasons. One is to see traffic spikes and where load is coming from, so I know the difference between the site being popular and the site being hammered. The other is to tell whether any of this is useful, such as whether anyone ever opens the methodology page. It is not sold, not shared, and not used to advertise to you or to anyone else. If you would rather not be counted, any content blocker stops it and the site works exactly the same.

The one other third party

Each daycare page embeds Street View and satellite imagery from Google Maps. Those panels load directly from Google, which means Google receives a request from your browser, including your IP address and which page you are on, when they load. That is Google's data collection, governed by their privacy policy, not ours.

We chose embeds deliberately: Google's terms prohibit downloading or re-hosting their imagery, so there is no way to show you the building without your browser talking to Google. If you would rather it did not, blocking iframes from google.com leaves the rest of the page fully usable.

Hosting

The site is static files served by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (IP address, timestamp, page requested) for operational purposes. We do not query, export or analyse them.

If you contact us

If you email a correction, we keep the message for as long as it takes to act on it and to have a record of why a page changed. We do not add you to anything.

Information about daycares

Everything published about a program, meaning name, address, phone, licence status and inspection history, is business information already published by the Government of Alberta or by the operator. It is not personal information about individuals, and we deliberately exclude family day homes, whose addresses are private residences.

Changes

If this site ever adds analytics, a contact form, or anything that collects data, this page will say so before it ships, and the date below will change.
